The Sumter County Court Calendar
The Southwestern Judicial Circuit calendar page is the official route for Superior Court term planning. The six-county circuit lists Sumter terms on the fourth Monday of February, May, and August, plus the Monday after the fourth Thursday in November. Those are term dates, not promises that a named case will be heard or resolved that day.
A case-specific Sumter County setting is narrower. The reviewed public calendar did not expose a safe individual case row. Do not infer a courtroom, party list, or status from the annual term sheet. Confirm the actual event through the docket, written notice, counsel, or the clerk.
Sumter Court Terms and Hearings
A term date and hearing date answer different questions. One begins a Superior Court term. The other sets a motion, arraignment, pretrial matter, or trial event. A case can fall within a term without being called on opening day.
| Item | Shows | Does not show |
|---|---|---|
| Court term | A session point | An individual trial date |
| Case event | A planned docket step | That it occurred |
| Disposition | A case result | A future time |
Read the notice and docket together. If they differ, ask the court office before relying on either screen.
How to Find Your Court Date
Start with venue. Superior and State cases route through the Clerk of Superior / State Court. Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, and municipal matters use separate offices. Georgia E-Access points Sumter Superior and State users to PeachCourt, whose observed search page required login.
- Identify the court from the notice or filing.
- For Superior or State Court, search PeachCourt with the exact case number.
- Compare the event with the circuit calendar and written notice.
- Confirm changes with counsel, the clerk at 229-928-4537, or Court Administration at 229-928-4553.
- If online access fails, visit 500 West Lamar Street or mail the office with the court and case number.
Sumter Calendar Administration
The Court Administration page gives the local routing point at PO Box 784, Americus, phone 229-928-4553. Staff can route calendar questions, while the clerk keeps Superior and State records.

Reading a Sumter Court Setting
Read each field as a clue, not a substitute for the notice. The label tells why the case is listed. Date and time show what is planned. The docket later shows whether the event occurred, moved, or produced an order.
| Date | The planned date, subject to later notice. |
|---|---|
| Time | The event or docket-call time. |
| Courtroom | The room if published; ask when absent. |
| Judge | The assigned judicial officer. |
| Setting Type | Arraignment, pretrial, hearing, or trial. |
Sumter Court Calendar Terms
Short labels change the meaning of a Sumter calendar result.
- Calendar
- A plan of court activity, not the full case record.
- Continuance
- A postponed or changed date.
- Setting
- A scheduled case event.
- Disposition
- A recorded result, not a planned hearing.
The docket gives the chronology. Confirm the next setting with the court.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A reset changes the planned event but does not dismiss the case. It may appear in PeachCourt, an order, a new notice, or a revised calendar. No source promises real-time Sumter updates.
Check the event list and call the clerk. A missing line may reflect access limits, reassignment, or a record not shown online. It is not proof of cancellation.
When a Sumter Case Is Missing
PeachCourt is mapped for Superior and State Courts, not as one index for every Sumter court. City citations, juvenile files, and federal matters take other routes.
Recheck the exact number, filing court, and date. Ask whether the event is new, transferred, restricted, or outside the system. Say “not found in the searched system,” not “no case exists.”
Note: A login barrier does not remove the clerk’s role as official custodian.
Missing a Sumter Court Setting
Act promptly. Contact counsel, then call the office named on the notice. Ask what the docket shows and what formal step is required. A clerk cannot give legal advice or promise a new date.
Missed a setting? A failure to appear can produce serious court action.
Contact the Sumter court office or your attorney at once.
Get legal advice if a warrant, bond issue, or enforcement action may have followed.
Keep the case number and notice. Confirm any new date through an official entry or notice.
